An overview of Kintore.

Kintore lies along the course of the river Don. It's name is derived from the Gaelic; Ceann Torr meaning the head of a hill. This is likely to refer to Tuach Hill on it's east most side. Kintore was established in the end of the twelfth century A.D.
The town of Kintore lies in a valley carved out by ice in the last ice age. It owes much of it's shape however to the meanders in the river Don. The relief is mild but not flat. It has fertile soil suitable for farming.
